To seek an improvement in preservation of Sunday Cricket; enhance contact between clubs from different Saturday leagues; assist in the improvement of the playing conditions and facilities; and develop youth cricket in the county. The League will organise and control annual competitions between properly constituted cricket clubs in Essex. The nature of any competition and the allocation will be decided by the Executive Committee. The respective clubs must provide a standard of cricket, discipline, administration and facilities satisfactory to the Committee. The league will consist of 36 clubs; each division will consist of a maximum of 14. Membership is be invitation only. Consideration for membership will be given to those clubs affiliated to the England and Wales Cricket Board, Essex County Cricket Board and Club Cricket Conference; and possess (or by January 2003) a permanent use of a high quality square and outfield, two sightscreens, a scorebox, permanent use of a pavilion with good and large changing facilities (incl. showers), use of bar and an active youth policy. Clubs having qualified umpires available to join the League Umpire's Panel will be advantaged. Membership is irrespective of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, creed, colour or sexual orientation. |
